²ÝÁñ¶ÌÊÓƵoffers new, no-cost Workplace Skills for Success training
²ÝÁñ¶ÌÊÓƵ is offering Workplace Skills for Success, a free course to help newcomers to Canada improve their skills and knowledge to succeed in their chosen career.
Employment and Social Development Canada has identified adaptability, collaboration and communication as three of the for the Canadian workplace. Employers in Canada are looking to hire job seekers with these skills.
This course includes three micro-credential modules developed and presented by Colleges and Institutes Canada (CICan). These modules have been tested across Canada and were reviewed and validated by employers so you will get the skills sought after by today’s top companies.
Over the course of 12 weeks learners will participate in approximately 60 hours of self-paced, independent online study – some learners may complete the micro-credentials in less time — and 10 online group sessions (2.5 hours each session).
During the online group sessions, a ²ÝÁñ¶ÌÊÓƵinstructor will help students practice skills learned in the online micro-credentials, share learning with other participants, and gain additional information about getting work in Canada.
The online self-paced micro-credentials (independent study) will cover these topics:
Adaptability: This micro-credential focuses on demonstrating adaptability through adapting to changes in schedule and adapting to changes in process. In the workplace, employees are expected to show adaptability by demonstrating flexibility to changes in expectations and goals, by planning to overcome setbacks, by regulating emotions, and by identifying self-improvement goals.
Collaboration: This micro-credential focuses on demonstrating collaboration through collaborating with a team and collaborating with a coworker or a client. In the workplace, employees are expected to show collaborative skills by valuing diverse perspectives, strengthening relationships, focusing on solutions, and by achieving a common goal.
Communication: This micro-credential focuses on demonstrating communication through monitoring stock levels/reporting deficiencies in inventory status and providing support to a coworker or client. In the workplace, employees are expected to show good communication skills by sharing information/ideas with clarity and purpose, by adapting to audience, context, and mode, by focusing on collaboration, and by identifying self-improvement goals.
